Instructions and Specifications

The recent upsurge in demand for the Palm Springs spa is a direct result of its recent upgrades and newly added functions. It doesn't take prospective customers to search around and compare features to find out that this is in a league of its own. Whether for a single person, a small family or couples and friends, this indoor and outdoor tub guarantees one of the most relaxing experiences you're ever likely to have in any tub.

One of the best loved features of this model is the 40°C rapid heating system and timer. This feature, common to the full range of Lay-Z Spa inflatable tubs, allows you to enjoy your spa straight out the box. This rapid heating system can also be easily programmed to ensure the tub is perfectly heated for whenever you want to use it. No waiting. No lukewarm water. Just blissful 40°C water every time!

This hot tub is a doddle to set up. Straight from the box it can be set down and inflated, ready to be filled, within 10 minutes. They're not called Lazy Spas for no reason.

When purchasing a product for this amount of money it is essential that you fully research it to ensure it really is the product for you. And here's some great news: if you've not the time or the knowledge to make a full product study and assessment, fear not:  hundreds of customers have already done it for you. It's one of the most heavily reviewed and compared inflatable hot tubs on the internet. That's a good thing as the opinion is unanimous – This inflatable spa is one of the greatest products in a heavily saturated mid-price spa range.

How to Set Up - Setting Up Like a Pro!

Although very easy to set up, we always advise taking a little extra time during the initial set-up by carefully following the advised method. We also highly recommend that you fully familiarise yourself with user safety information.

Set Up & Running Costs

...and where to place!

There are three basic requirements that you need in order to set up your inflatable. A power source, a water source and a flat space with a drainage system in place. If used inside, the tub should never be set up on carpet.

For inside installation you must also be very careful concerning the moisture your spa will cause. For an ideal indoor set up it is highly advised that you set it up in a well-ventilated room.

One of the main challenges of setting up your spa, inside or out, is the issue of water drainage. This is often overlooked and only becomes a concern once it is too late. Your spa should be situated close to a floor drain. If this is not possible, water can be siphoned away quite easily using a hose pipe.

Before inflating the tub ensure that the flat ground you have chosen is free of any debris or sharp objects. With any objects removed you can then attach the inflation valve and connect the inflation hose.  With this complete you can connect the other end of the hose to your pump's air outlet and begin inflating your tub.

Once the spa is inflated you can then inflate your top cover. Once the cover is inflated it is time to attach the pump and then get filling. Be sure to read and follow the safety precautions in your set up guide.

Hot Tub Safety Precautions - Please Read Carefully

When deciding upon a location for your tub it is important to take into consideration the filled weight of the tub. Never set up your tub on a support that is not designed to hold such weight. It is also extremely important that the floor is absolutely level. Setting up your spa on uneven ground can result in huge problems due to the volume of water that will be moved about. One of my top set up tips is using a floor protector. This will need to be purchased separately but is well worth every penny.

Unlike stationary hot tubs, inflatables should never be used when the surrounding temperature is 4C or less. The last thing you'd want is water freezing in the system and causing irreparable damage to your tub.

If possible place your spa close to a windbreak (a wall or fence) or inside a gazebo. This will not only offer you protection against wind but will also drastically reduce running costs by preventing the wind from lowering the temperature of the water.

If you use any tools to help set up your spa, make sure they are all cleared away after use and that there are no sharp objects near to your tub. Due to a similar risk of puncture, pets should also be kept away from your inflatable hot tub.

Your pump system comes with a whopping 7 meters of cable. This should ensure that you always have sufficient cable to reach the power source. If for any reason your 7m length of cable is not sufficient, never resort to using an extension lead.

Not only are they potential fire hazards but also pose a risk of electrocution. In situations where your power source is too far away, contract out an electrician to install a grounded outdoor socket with RCD protection.

Pro's & Cons

The palm springs is an innovative, mid-sized mid-priced spa that has a solid reputation and is one of the most popular garden spas on the market. If you're looking for a feature packed spa that offers portability, intensive massage therapy and is not too expensive then it could just be the tub for you.

4/5

The Good Stuff:

One of the most loved pros is the feature packed pump system. Usually you'd only find such technology in much higher priced spas or traditional stationary tubs. Included within the innovative pump system is the rapid heating system & timer, soft water treatment system and the hydro jet massage system. As with the entire Lay Z Spa range can be installed indoors or out.

This allows for some sumptuous winter soaks allowing you to take full advantage of the fresh cool air while your tub keeps you blissfully warm. As far as blow up hot tubs go it's one of the largest spas of its kind. That means plenty of leg room for everyone and no underwater feet fights trying to secure prime position. Although a portable, with its state-of-the-art triple-layer design is as robust as any fixed hot tub.

The Bad Stuff:

As you'll no doubt read elsewhere the warranty period is quite short compared to similar models. The good news is that Lay Z Spas are so well built that this is rarely an issue.

A second downside, especially for pet lovers, is that you'll need to keep your four-legged friends well away from your Lay Z Spa tub. Pets, with their sharp claws, pose a real and serious threat of puncturing your spa.

Although head and shoulders above most of its competitors, the Palm Spring does have serious competition in the market. Intex Pure Spa and Mspa both have products that are well worth comparing with.

Best Price

To develop and research this review we obviously had to visit several suppliers websites and the manufacturer's own page for this hot tub. The price from Lay Z Spa direct at the time of writing this article was over £100 more than the price below.
